Xiaomi’s best-selling Redmi Note line adds its first-ever Pro Max, with its largest smartphone battery yet and a promise of six years of reliability.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Note 17 Series, a four-model lineup that arrives just as the Note range passes 500 million shipments worldwide. It is a milestone the brand credits to a simple formula: premium products made accessible. With this generation, that formula gets a new theme, “Built for Years,” and every upgrade is aimed at helping people use their phones with confidence long after launch day.
The headline act: the Pro Max
Leading the range is the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G, the first Pro Max the series has seen. Its 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery is the largest Xiaomi has ever put in a smartphone, good for up to three days on a single charge. When it does run low, just 20 minutes on the charger gives you a full day of use.
The rest of the family follows the same endurance-first approach. The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G carries an 8,340mAh battery with 67W HyperCharge, while the Redmi Note 17 5G has a 7,700mAh battery with 45W turbo charging. Across the series, the batteries are designed to hold at least 80% of their original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, which Xiaomi equates to about six years of typical use. Security updates also run for up to six years, and the Pro Max adds a six-year “like-new” software experience.
Tough, and independently certified
Durability is where the series makes its boldest claims. The Pro Max and Pro are the first phones in the industry to earn TÜV SÜD’s 5-star Titan Quality Certification, a standard co-developed with the testing body. It covers three areas: drop resistance, water resistance and battery performance. The standard Note 17 earns the 5-star certification for its battery.
Both Pro models carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, passed a 72-hour test at two metres underwater, and introduce a new Underwater Mode. Wet Touch Technology 2.0 keeps the screen responsive when it detects water, oil, foam or sweat. On the drop front, the Pro models have been tested to survive falls of up to three metres onto granite, backed by SGS certification and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Inside, a reinforced motherboard and mid-frame help protect key components from impacts.

A fresh look
The series gets a new design language: a redesigned camera module, a flat display, gently rounded corners and a dual-finish back panel. On the Pro models, the rear cover and frame blend more smoothly for a more comfortable feel in the hand.
The Pro Max is exclusive in Cloud Blush, a photochromic finish that shifts from cloud white to a warm pink-orange under UV light. The Pro comes in Satin Orange, which uses a new Glitter Process so that every unit has a unique pattern, and Sky Blue, a soft azure finish.
Flagship features for the mid-range
The Pro models have 6.83-inch displays with 1.5K resolution, up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness for outdoor visibility, and a 3200Hz touch sampling rate. The standard Note 17 goes bigger, with a 6.99-inch screen aimed at streaming and gaming. The Pro Max also offers up to a 400% volume boost.
Under the hood, the Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, built for gaming, 4K content and heavy multitasking, and both Pro models can extend RAM by up to 24GB. The Pro Max also gets Xiaomi HyperAI for productivity and creative tasks, while Google Gemini and Circle to Search come on every model.
For creators, the Pro Max adds improved portraits with natural skin tones, 4K 30fps video recording and Professional Video mode. Dual-video recording is supported across the series. The Pro models add AI editing tools including AI Glare Removal, AI Erase Pro and AI Beautify.
