Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Coming back to South Africa, PJ Morton, a multiple Grammy Award-winning musician, singer, songwriter and record producer as well as solo artist and member of Maroon 5, will be performing a live concert with his band Afro Orleans at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom on Saturday, 07 September 2024.
With his latest album, Cape Town to Cairo, written and recorded on his last African tour, Morton continues a spectacular run of genre-blurring releases, and extends his considerable ambitions even further. Oscillating between genres that have included pop, R&B, funk and gospel, the New Orleans native has been able to reinvent himself over his two decades of music service. He will be performing in front of South African fans and showing the diverse styles of music in Africa for all to enjoy.
Grammy wins include Best Traditional R&B Performance in 2019, Best R&B Song in 2020, Best Gospel Album in 2021 and Album Of The Year in 2022 (for his contributions to Jon Batiste’s We Are). Morton has also topped charts and received nods for numerous BET, Soul Train, and NAACP Image Awards honouring the six albums he has put out since his breakthrough, Gumbo, in 2017.
